Haters gotta hate and I hate musicals.
I never would have attended had I known the West Coast Players presentation of Lucky Stiff was a musical.
Notice that nowhere in the advertising nor the website nor the ticket site is this stage play presented as a musical.
The songs were great despite the mediocre singing.
The story was funny although despite the lack-luster acting.
And I thoroughly enjoyed the evening despite myself.
Would I go again, probably not, but then I hate musicals.
In this offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce, complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair, an unassuming English shoe salesman stands to inherit a fortune IF….he can succeed in passing his DEAD uncle off as alive.
